The Simco Story
Simco's history is very much the history of San Francisco. And our spirit is very much the pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit of San Francisco. Like all great stories, this one starts with someone dreaming of a different future. Warren Simmons was a pilot for Pan American Airlines. He flew all over the world. He saw many exotic and incredible sites. He met wonderful people. He wanted to create a meeting place in his home town of San Francisco, where people from all over the world could mingle with locals. One day, while walking along the San Francisco Bay, he noticed an abandoned and rundown pier on San Francisco's otherwise beautiful waterfront. "That's the spot," he dreamed. At that point, Warren, Scooter, and Nancy Simmons began a journey that continues to this day and involves many more people than themselves. It's an adventure that continues to grow and expand---and an adventure that is centered around PIER 39. The Simmons sold PIER 39 while maintaining a base on their Pier from which they continue to dream and build. The company created the famous Chevys chain of Fresh Mex restaurants and they continue to create and operate great places to eat. Simco is proud to be such a key part of San Francisco. We're proud that our dreams bring joy and excitement to millions of people every year as they experience one of San Francisco's most famous landmarks: PIER 39. A vibrant landmark that once was just a dream.
